Majors and AAA Try-outs this weekend
Tryouts2006
Try-outs for the Majors and AAA division will take place this weekend, January 10th and 11th.  The weather is expected to be sunny and the field conditions good.

If your son is signed up to try out on one of those days, make sure you bring him to the field at least a half hour early to get warmed up and to find his try-out group.  Try-outs are located at the Majors field (located at the Almaden Country School).  He should wear a hat, cleats, comfortable clothing (e.g. sweats or baseball pants), and bring a baseball mitt.  Also, he should wear his try-out number taped to his back.  For more details concerning try-outs, click on "Try-out Schedule".  Please contact Genny Huhn if you are unsure of your try-out time or if you cannot make your scheduled time.

2009 Rule Changes Concerning Little League Bats
Little League International has introduced some new rules for the 2009 season concerning what type of bats can be used in Little League games.  First, all bats need to have printed on them a BPF of 1.15 or less.  BPF stands for Bat Performance Factor which is a rating concerning how well the baseball comes off the bat on contact.   Bats with a BPF of over 1.15 are considered to be too "lively" (i.e. the ball comes off the bat too fast) and they become a safety issue.

The other change concerns the size of a baseball bat used in the juniors division of Little League.  For the 2009 season, baseball bats in juniors cannot have a diameter of 2 3/4 inches.  All bats in juniors must have a 2 5/8 inch diameter to be considered legal.  Click HERE to see a list of the Little League equipment rules for 2009.

Almaden Little League Commemorative Bricks
BrickPic
A great way to be a sponsor for Almaden Little League is to purchase a commemorative brick to be mounted at our Major's field.  When purchasing a commemorative brick, you get to add text to the brick to create a long lasting memory.  You can add players' names, coaches' names, team names, company names, etc.

There are two sizes for the bricks - a medium (individual's) version and a large (Sponsor's) version (see photo to the right).  For the individual brick order form, please click HERE.   If you are interested in the larger, sponsor's brick order form, please click HERE.

Checks should be made to "Almaden Little League" and both check and form should be sent to Debbie Osborn at 1368 Via Del Los Grande, San Jose, CA  95120.
